The healthiest diet would be generous in vegetables and fruits – fresh or frozen vegetables and fruits NOT out of a can! These provide a lot of nutrients and they can help in weight control, too.
Things such as whole grain carbohydrates, such as whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, oatmeal and other whole grains would be added in moderation.
Also moderate sources of protein, such as fish, beans and other foods. It would contain other plan products such as nuts and low fat dairy products.
Processed food would be kept to a minimum. This would include refined carbohydrates such as sugar, saturated fat from meat and high-fat dairy products.
As long as you eat most foods from plant foods, you can still have a treat now and then and still be satisfied. It wouldn’t be an all-or-nothing type thing either. That’s no fun!
